Join Virtual Lobby Day for Paid Leave in IL Through the IL Cancer Action Network

We have a wonderful opportunity to join a coalition holding a virtual Illinois State Lobby Day on Friday, March 18, 2022, to advocate for the IL Senate and House bills (SB835/HB5029) for the Paid Family and Medical Leave Insurance Act. Paid Leave has long been a priority for AAUW, as leaving the workforce when we are sick, after childbirth or adoption, or to care for loved ones in a variety of circumstances, whether young or old, contributes to the gender pay gap. You may recall that our branch hosted a webinar, “Paid Leave in Illinois, The Time is Now,” in May 2021 to bring awareness to the need for paid leave legislation in Illinois.

Please give serious consideration to joining this virtual lobby day to advocate for paid leave legislation in Illinois. In addition to advocating for an important piece of legislation, you will learn how to be an effective advocate and speak directly with our lawmakers, virtually this year.

This lobby day is hosted by the American Cancer Association’s IL Cancer Action Day in partnership with AAUW, American Heart Association, Equal Hope, Women Employed, and the Shriver Center on Poverty Law.
