Nikita Milton has been selected to receive the 2019 Angeline Gale Scholarship from AAUW Naperville Area. Ms. Milton, a divorced mother of two children, is a nursing student at Rasmussen College in Joliet and carries a 3.5 grade point average. She is on track to graduate in December 2019. In addition to her educational pursuits, Ms. Milton is employed part-time as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Ms. Milton started her own nonprofit organization, the Neenah Rose Project Foundation, which was named for her daughter. She is also the co-founder of another nonprofit organization called Girls in the Hood. Each of these organizations provides support to at-risk youth, promotes health awareness and healthy lifestyles, and encourages the completion of education. Through these organizations, Ms. Milton has been instrumental in raising funds for the purchase of toys and other needed items for children, including 100 bicycles for those who live in communities where their families may not otherwise be able to afford them. Ms. Milton and these organizations have also raised funds for purposes of sending at-risk youth to Washington, D.C., for educational tours.
